Trailer socket tester 7-pin

Art.No.: 07171

Description

Tester with LEDs to verify all lighting functions for the vehicle's towing equipment socket and for the trailer plug. Tests all 7-pin sockets and plugs; using adapters (not included) also all 13-pin sockets and plugs in 7-pin function. The LEDs show a broken connection.

Instructions for use: Insert one 9V battery (not included) into the tester, paying attention to the correct polarity. Connect the tester to the trailer socket or plug and evaluate the measured data.

Measuring the trailer plug:

  • For the measurement, there must be functional bulbs in the trailer in all lights.
  • Insert the plug into the tester and press the yellow button on the side of the device.
  • If everything is OK, all LEDs will light up. Each LED indicates the function of one electrical circuit.
  • If any of the LEDs are off, the cause may be a faulty connection, a broken wire, or a broken light bulb.
  • If none of the LEDs are lit, the -12V wire (ground) is probably broken or the device's battery is flat.

Measuring the socket towing vehicle:

  • Turn on the car's lights and turn on the turn signals.
  • Plug the tester into the towing equipment socket and press the yellow button on the side of the vehicle.
  • The LEDs indicate which lights are on and transmitting correctly to the towbar socket.
  • If none of the LEDs are lit, the -12V wire (ground) is probably broken or no vehicle lights are on.

Notice: This tester cannot be used for towing equipment sockets that have their own control unit (CANBUS). Never connect the tester to the towbar and trailer socket at the same time. Always measure the trailer and towing equipment of the vehicle separately.
